World Mental Health Day is an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma.

Médecins Sans Frontières reached me to create an illustration for World Mental Health Day 2022. I was asked to create an illustration, on any issue related to mental health, which would be later posted in social media and printed in a booklet by MSF Lebanon. While for more physical diseases, we separate the illness from the person, in case of mental disease it’s more difficult to do so. Since the disease affects the mind it is difficult to understand how devastating one’s feeling could be.

I decided to create and illustration displaying how someone suffering from a mental disease could be actually feeling. To support my illustration I used a gradient which consists of a colour palette with strong contrast and colours that express danger and gloomy feelings.
